The Boys

"oh, good God. You kids switch partners more than square dancers!" - Kitty

Jackie and Donna's initial friendship began when they realized in their basement crowd, there was no one to confide in about their boy problems, but each other. So, in that spirit, here are our girl's relationships with those silly boys that caused them so much trauma, heartache, bonding, and joy.

Jackie's Boys

Jackie and Kelso were together for more than 'six years', if Eric Forman is to be believed. Her first boyfriend, Jackie loved Kelso on and off for four seasons, despite some rough patches. Kelso was the one responsible for her inclusion in the basement group, and despite his affection for her, was notorious for cheating. It didn't stop him from freaking out completely when she kissed another guy, and broke up with her over the incident.

Jackie believed she and Kelso were back together for good after an accidental engagement, but Kelso, not ready for such a commitment, panicked and ran away to California, breaking Jackie's heart.

She moved on, and despite lingering feelings for Kelso, loves Hyde. Kelso, until recently, was still quite in love with Jackie. Now he seems to have more important things to worry about.

Jackie and Fez, despite awesome dancing compatability, never had an actual relationship, but Fez not-so-secretly pined for Jackie for years. Jackie experienced a moment of jealousy when Fez was with another girl, but got over that quickly enough. Fez thought he had his opportunity when Jackie broke up with Kelso, but nothing ever came of their first horrible date. Despite complete lust that still sometimes over takes Fez, he is now over his crush and has moved on.

Fez, however, will always have the honor of being the best kiss Jackie ever had, though he will never know it.

Jackie and Chip were 'together' for one episode. Jackie had no actual feelings for Chip, but he had been pursuing her for quite a while. Jackie said 'What the hell', and decided to use him to make Hyde jealous. Chip's intentions were clear, he simply wanted to 'nail' the bitchy Jackie, and Hyde, enraged and defending Jackie's honor, punched him out.

So much for Chip.

Jackie and Todd were co-workers at the Cheese place. Todd was smitten with Jackie from the beginning, and dedicated his time, on and off the clock, to attempting to break her and Kelso up. He almost suceeded, and while a vulnerable Jackie was in woes about Kelso's modeling career, offered her a hug. What she got instead was a kiss. They were caught, and Jackie, in the chaos that followed, told Todd the kiss didn't mean a thing. She loved Kelso.

In his favor, she didn't get fired for that.

Jackie and Hyde were total opposites who 'hated each other'. She was shallow and mean, he was poor and sarcastic. Despite this, Hyde always displayed a concern for Jackie's wellbeing when he thought no one was looking, especially during Jackie's trying break-ups and make-ups with Kelso. During the breakup that lasted a year, Hyde displayed such caring, he accidentally succeeded in making Jackie fall for him. She pursued him (or stalked) for months, despite all his assurances to her he did NOT like her, and maybe even hated her.

Jackie landed a date with Hyde when he just gave up. They shared a kiss, and she didn't feel a thing. Hyde claimed this was the case as well, and for the next year and a half, settled for being the sarcastic, disgusted person he was before when it came to Jackie and Kelso. When Kelso abandoned Jackie for California, Hydes attraction flared up again, and suddenly out of sheer boredom, he and Jackie began a torrid summer fling.

Despite the implications from their best friends that they were 'breaking up the band', Jackie & Hyde continued their fling, until it became an actual relationship. They hit a strain when Jackie revealed she still had feelings for Kelso, and Hyde broke up with her, but Jackie fought for their relationship, because she loved him.

Hyde never quite got over his paranoia with Kelso, and when he thought he had caught them cheating, cheated on Jackie to get back at her. When he realized the truth, he told Jackie, who broke up with him as a result. Fearing he would lose her to  Kelso, Hyde admitted he loved her. She, despite her admission to Donna she still loved Hyde, told him she didn't feel the same.

After the break-up Jackie pitted Hyde and Kelso against one another to win her heart. Her plan backfired when they both demanded she choose one of them. Instead Jackie chose herself and spent the summer working on her tan and figuring out who she loved more.

It turns out she loves Hyde more and after a few trying and dramatic mishaps they are happily back together.

Donna's Boys

Donna and Eric met, depending on which episode you believe, before they were four or when they were eight. Also best friends, this classic story of the girl next door took shape, with Donna kissing Eric in the pilot because, apparently, he could have had her when she was four. Despite Hyde's attempts to get Donna for himself, Eric and Donna suceeded in creating a loving relationship for three years.

Donna's feminist yearnings, however, would soon cause a snag. When Eric presented her with a promise ring, Donna, scared by the implications, was forced to give it back. Hurt, Eric broke up with her. It was a bitter break up, and it affected the group severely, until they learned to put aside their differences and remained friends.

Eric's feelings continued to remain, and when he began to openly date, Donna moved on to Casey Kelso. Jealous, Eric attempted to warn her about the Kelsos, but to no avail.

Broken hearted when Casey left her, Donna returned to Eric, but he refused to be her second choice. His rejection so wounded Donna, she ran away to California. Eric, desperate to prove his love, followed her there, and the two were reunited.

Now desperately in love, the pair decided they were ready for the next step, and when Eric proposed, Donna accepted.

Now, the self named 'perfect' couple, has to deal with not only senior year, college, but wedding plans, and Eric's severely disproving father.

Despite this. Eric believes in this marriage strongly, and Donna agrees, especially after seeing him milk that cow.

Donna and Casey were set up by Jackie, who needed Donna to date in order to save her reputation. Donna fell long and hard, despite Casey's flakiness. Their relationship lasted for a few months, until his bad influence on Donna forced Donna's father to demand they stop seeing each other. Donna was ready to fight, but Casey had had enough. He quickly agreed, calling their relationship a 'hassle', and broke up with Donna in front of the Formans, Donna's father and his girlfriend, and all of her friends.

Yeah. He was an ass. But you gotta forgive him. Everybody does.

Donna and Hyde were friends for years, and when Donna blossomed, Hyde noticed. Despite Eric's relationship with Donna, Hyde fell hard and fast. His love was mostly unrequited, however. It seemed Donna only had eyes for Eric, and after pursuing her fruitlessly for a year, Hyde stepped aside, grudgingly becoming the sympathetic ear to both Eric and Donna's problems.

It wasn't a stand he wanted, and eventually, Hyde's feelings for Donna became more friendship oriented. It seemed to be truly over, however, when the other female quotient of their basement group caught his eye; Jackie.
